Prof. em. Roger Diener + Prof. Marcel Meili

Professors Roger Diener and Marcel Meili, along with Professors Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, form an institute of urban research called Studio Basel. As a team, they have executed projects such as Switzerland: an Urban Portrait.

Roger Diener has been teaching at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic (ETH Zurich), ETH Studio Basel: Contemporary City Institute, since 1999. Internationally known works include a block for athletes at the Olympic Village in Turin, Italy (2006), the Teachers’ Training Centre at the University of Malmö, Sweden (2005), the Forum 3 Novartis Campus in Basel, Switzerland (2005), the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, Germany (2000), residential buildings on Java Island Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2000), Hotel Schweizerhof and Migros in Lucerne, Switzerland (2000), CentrePasquArt, an art museum in Bienne, Switzerland, (1999), and the Warteck Brewery residential buildings in Basel, Switzerland (1996). More

Marcel Meili has been teaching at the ETH Zurich since 1999. He served as a visiting professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design and founded Meili, Peter Architekten in 1987. Their recent built work includes the RiffRaff cinema in Zurich, the Zurich Central Station extension, the Swiss Re Center for Global Dialogue in Rüschlikon, and the Hyatt Hotel in Zurich. Major current projects include the Zurich Football Stadium, the Helvetia Insurance Headquarters Italy in Milan, and the «Mitten in München» complex, a large passage in the old town of Munich. More
