Housing Greece offers a critical perspective on state housing through the lens of emergency. From the 1922 refugee crisis following the Asia Minor Catastrophe to the 2008 economic meltdown and the 2014 refugee influx, the book reveals how migration, warfare, natural disasters, and economic crises have shaped Greek housing policy as a series of ad hoc interventions. Each chapter is anchored in a state of emergency, while interviews with experts connect past responses to today’s housing challenges.
