Dal 1965 l'ETH di Zurigo offre corsi di aggiornamento e percorsi di studi post-laurea (NDS, oggi MAS) in questo ambito. I corsi sono gestiti dalla Rete Scientifica Città e Paesaggio (NSL).

Michael Nold erhält den VSS-Preis 2026

Die Auszeichnung würdigt seine herausragenden wissenschaftlichen Leistungen und die hohe praktische Relevanz seiner Arbeit für das technologische und betriebliche Entwicklungspotenzial zukünftiger Schienensysteme.

Michael Nold ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Verkehrsplanung und Verkehrssysteme innerhalb des Fachbereichs Bauingenieurwesen, Umwelt und Geomatik (D-BAUG) und wurde für seine Doktorarbeit mit dem VSS-Preis 2026 ausgezeichnet.

Michael Nolds Dissertation untersucht systematisch technologische und betriebliche Weiterentwicklungspotenziale des Bahnsystems bis 2050. Im Zentrum stehen systemweite Analysen sowie vertiefte Untersuchungen zur energieeffizienten Fahrweise und zum dynamischen mechanischen Kuppeln und Entkuppeln von Schienenfahrzeugen während der Fahrt.

Ein zentrales Anliegen seiner Arbeit war, nicht isolierte Technologien oder betriebliche Massnahmen, sondern deren systemweite und tiefgreifende Auswirkungen zu betrachten. Gerade in komplexen Verkehrssystemen entstehen die grössten Potenziale dort, wo Technik, Betrieb, Infrastruktur, Planung und langfristige Entwicklung gemeinsam analysiert werden. Die Arbeit macht Wechselwirkungen sichtbar und leitet daraus robuste, wirtschaftliche und langfristig tragfähige Lösungen für das Bahnsystem ab.

Der VSS-Preis für ausgezeichnete Dissertationen aus dem Fachbereich des Strassen- und Verkehrswesens wird einmal pro Jahr mit einem Preisgeld von CHF 3000 vergeben.
