Sara Frikech received an ETH Medal for her doctoral thesis at the Institute gta. It deals with a historical topic in architecture from the mid‑19th century onwards.
In her dissertation, ‘Hydrological Landscapes of Empire in Morocco: The Making of Colonial Meknès (1845–1956)‘, Sara Frikech examined the material and spatial control of water in colonial Morocco. Her work reveals that hydraulic infrastructure was not merely a technical matter but was fundamental to the consolidation and maintenance of French colonial power. The dissertation was supervised by Professors Tom Avermaete, Corey D. Ross and Hollyamber Kennedy.
