Venice Biennale Architettura 2021 | 17th International Architecture Exhibition: How will we live together?
22 May to 21 November 2021 (pre-opening 19 or 20 May 2021) | Central Pavilion, Giardini della Biennale Venice.
For the 17th International Architecture Biennale of Venice, teams of Urban Theory Lab at Harvard GSD and ETH Zürich Department of Architecture will jointly present Worlds of Planetary Urbanization. The work proposes a radical rethinking of the concept and of geographies of urbanization. Today, novel urbanization patterns are found not only in the peripheries of agglomerations, but they are crystallizing all over the world, in agrarian and extractive hinterlands, in zones of apparent wilderness and even in the oceans. The exhibit highlights the urgency of formulating new theoretical and cartographic perspectives on urbanization, and of envisioning better urban worlds.
